Price and Value

Throughout the recent history of humanity, we exercised a connection with nature largely because of extractivism, a fact that was the main guide when it was necessary to measure the usefulness of an item with such characteristics in its origin. Today, we know the importance of carbon sequestration, which greatly alters the value of natural resources, admitting its influence on the continuation of our species.

In this sense, when the subject is the environment, the relationship between price and value occurs with variables that ultimately escape the standard concept of environmental valuation, taking on urgent contours due to all the climatic events and a near future that does not encourage even the more laypeople on the subject.

However, the price to be paid by humanity for not giving due value to the plurality of benefits that these resources bring is high, as in addition to financial resources, all necessary restoration requires time, something that is probably the most valuable item for humans.
