Smoking and its Social Environmental Impact

In the wake of issues related to environmental preservation, the impact caused by smoking can not be put aside, since it originates from the cultivation of tobacco using agrochemicals to the effects related to deforestation.

The consequences also exist when we look at the management of its waste, being one of the biggest contaminants in the oceans, affecting the ecosystem of these areas, with the existence of lead, arsenic and nicotine in its composition.

Human life is also exposed, so that costs due to the consumption of cigarettes burden the health care system, constituting a negative factor for development in the economic, social, and environmental aspects, causing losses in related to our productivity.

The fight against smoking has considerable space for us to have climatic improvements, not forgetting other aspects linked to Sustainable Development, such as the increase in life expectancy as well as the fight against hunger and poverty.
