The mediation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has attracted the attention of the world so that we have a chance at peace as soon as possible. However, the variable that is undoubtedly among the least commented on regarding the consequences of this war is the environmental one, without forgetting the humanitarian disaster intrinsic to the scenario presented.
We hear little news about the level of damage caused by war to the environment due to pollution and degradation that, like the European heat wave, does not respect borders, affecting those who are not directly responsible for negligence related to Sustainability.
It is a consensus that for the existence of Sustainable Development, peace is necessary in the four corners of the world, requiring lucidity regarding environmental issues. In this context, given the emergencies related to climate threats and the scarcity of natural resources, time becomes more important than money, however, the prolongation of wars also consumes economic wealth.
