Human activity over the last few centuries leaves scars that show us environmental degradation, something to be noticed more easily when we observe with more attention the disastrous action of man, compromising, in addition to biodiversity, climatic aspects.
Both Mariana and Brumadinho cities’ tragedies happened in Brazil are extremely painful wounds that need a long time to be healed not only on the environmental side, but also on the social side. Outside Brazil, the Aral Sea should be highlighted, which was converted into a desert in Central Asia, with its salt storms that cause health problems, an example of the misuse of water resources for irrigation.
Fortunately, means of recovery were developed to restore the ecological balance and positive results were achieved with great effort. However, a well-executed environmental management becomes something more rational, allocating resources for prevention, something smarter from different points of view.
