BRICS

The BRICS’ stance in the document “ Strengthening Global South Cooperation for a More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance” at the environmental level, can be seen as bold, recognizing the Tropical Forests Forever Fund as innovative, supporting fundraising for countries that possess these forests.

At this moment, the so-called global south seems to be acting in a way that can influence the discussions at COP30 so that rich countries located in the northern hemisphere make commitments to forest conservation, in addition to the entire debate regarding the energy transition.

The eleven BRICS members will have to show detachment from the left/right pattern that has limited negotiations for achieving ecological victories, admitting that environmental issues affect the planet without distinguishing political thoughts. It is time to not run away from paying the bill for the glorious decades of the last century, when progress was driven by the linearity of the production and consumption model.
